What is Q-duct?

Buildings housing people require the movement of air. This movement involves fresh air from the outside and recirculated conditioned air being introduced into various spaces throughout the building.

Air ventilation requirements may vary for specific locations throughout the building. Normally a system of metal or plastic ducting with intermittently spaced louvers tends to accomplish the various requirements.

A novel system of air distribution has been employed in Europe for the past twenty five years. Recently, an American Company (Q-duct,Inc.) has introduced this system into the U.S.

This system uses fabric instead of metal or plastic for duct construction. Louvers are not needed as the transported air diffuses through the fabric weave throughout the entire duct surface. Completely uniform air distribution results. On the other hand, the use of a variety of weave densities and air slots in the fabric duct construction allows differential distribution wherever desired. In particular, the slots can be positioned to direct air streams to specific targets or targeted areas. Click here for more information.
