INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

These instruction have been prepared to assist you with the installation of your Q-duct Air Distribution System. Although no set of instructions can cover all situations, general procedures will usually apply. They should be used as a guideline for the specific situations that exist.

Q-duct are classified as an Air Distribution Device by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. meeting the requirements of NFPA90A-1993 Flammability Requirements. Q-duct should be installed only by qualified technicians familiar with the HVAC equipment and systems existing at the site. All requirements necessary to produce a safe functional installation in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, laws, and regulations must be met.

Q-duct are limited to air temperatures that do not exceed 250 degrees Fahrenheit. HVAC equipment and systems connected to Q-duct must be made to AGA, UL, GAMA, ANSI and all other applicable Standards which govern the manufacture of HVAC equipment. We recommend that you become sufficiently familiarized with this information before proceeding with the installation.

INSPECTION

Inspect your shipment carefully, matching contents to the Packing Slip making sure everything is present. Note any missing or damaged pieces on the Bill of Lading before accepting the shipment in order to facilitate a claim for shipping damage.

IDENTIFICATION

Each Q-duct piece is carefully wrapped in plastic. On the outside of the plastic is a Position Number which identifies the dimension and site location of each piece of the shipment. Handle the contents in a manner to prevent soiling.

ROUND Q-duct INSTALLATION

USING CLIPS:

A. Single cable:
- Suspend wire cable across room at proper horizontal height and mount with turnbuckle to anchor points.
. - Along this cable run mount vertical Strap-ups cables to overhead anchor every 16 ft and attach to the horizontal cable to maintain its level.
-Attach first section of Q-duct to HVAC source with supplied metal strapping. Continue the addition of zippered Q-duct sections as supplied.

B. Double cable:
The two cables are suspended (as in 'A.' above) located on either side of the Q-duct centerline to conform to the Q-duct diameter.

USING RAILS:
USING SINGLE RAILS WITH GLIDERS

A. Take measurements ( from unit, walls, etc.) to establish rail location . Rail should be located on centerline of Q-duct run. Rail installation must be straight, (use a chalk line or other device to insure straight alignment)

B. Attach rail to overhead anchor by: (1) using white clips screwed to anchor or (2) drill holes in rail very three feet and attach with countersunk flat head screws.

C. Attach first Q-duct section to distribution system with clamp provided and slide Q-duct onto rail using curtain gliders attached to Q-duct, zip sections together.

USING DOUBLE RAIL WITH GLIDERS

A. Take measurements ( from unit, walls, etc.) to establish rail location . Rail should be located on centerline of Q-duct run. Rail will attach to Strap-up using the gliders. The gliders will slide in to the upper side of the Double Aluminum rail.

B. Attach Strap-up to ceiling eye-hooks. (supplied by others)

C. Attach first Q-duct section to distribution system with clamp provided and slide Q-duct onto rail using curtain

D. Rail Installation must be straight, use Double Rail connectors to connect Double Rail with one another.

E. Slide Q-duct on to rail with curtain gliders attached to Q-duct section, zip section together.

F. Attach first Q-duct section to distribution system with clamp provided and slide Q-duct onto rail using curtain gliders attached to Q-duct.

HALF ROUND Q-duct INSTALLATION WITH D-RAIL

A. Take measurement to establish rail location. Each rail should be equal distance from the center of the Half round Q-duct location. The total distance between the rails should be equal to the distance between the plastic channels on the flat top side of the Q-duct

B. Installation must be straight.

C. Attach rail to ceiling by drilling holes in rail every 3.ft and screw to ceiling in location which provides suitable strength for mounting Q-duct.

D. Slide Q-duct on to Rail, zip section together .

E. Attach Q-duct to sheet metal ducting with clamp supplied by Q-duct.

Caution and Warning: Q-duct air distribution systems is only for use as described in the brochure and catalog published by Q-duct, Inc. All other use is without any liability for Q-duct, Inc. This product may only be installed by qualified installer who is familiar with the HVAC system Q-duct is being attached to , and who thoroughly understands requirements for a safe installation that is in compliance with all applicable laws, codes and regulations.
